Assoc. Prof. Can B. Aktaş's application to the TÜBİTAK Scientific Conversations program was accepted. Dr. Aktaş lectured a seminar titled "Climate Change and Its Effects" within the scope of the program at Ankara / Ayaş Çanıllı Middle School on November 22, 2023. Assoc. Prof. Can B. Aktaş from the Civil Engineering Department has been awarded the 2023 TEDU Faculty of Engineering Excellence in Teaching Award. We congratulate our faculty and wish him continued success

The project titled "Cross Border RISk assessment for increased prevention and preparedness in Europe: way forward (BORIS 2)" has been funded by the European Commission under the call of the Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM). The project has a budget of €1 million and will run for 24 months. The project stakeholders are from five countries: Italy, Austria, Slovenia, Turkey, and Montenegro. There are 11 organizations involved in the project, TED University being the only partner from Turkey. The project team is led by Prof. Dr.

Our graduate student Karin Farag has successfully presented her M.S. Thesis titled “An Investigation of the Most Prevalent Sustainability Initiatives at Universities” supervised by Assoc.Prof.Dr. Can Baran Aktaş. We congratulate Karin Farag and wish her success in her future career.

Following the devastating earthquakes affecting 11 cities in southeastern Turkey in February, a fieldwork project entitled “Damage Assessment Study on the Building Retrofitted in 2009” was conducted by our faculty members by Assoc. Profs. Rıza Secer Orkun, Can Baran Aktaş, Cem Akgüner, and Research Assistant Mehmet Fırat Aydın. The project realized in Antakya, Hatay, between March 2nd and 4th, 2023, was supported by TÜBİTAK 1002-C Emergency Support Program for Reconnaissance Study Focusing on Natural Disasters Program.

Dr. Aktaş, Associate Professor from the Department of Civil Engineering, was an invited speaker at the Training Academy and Dissemination Event of “Integration of Sustainable Design and Circular Economy Concepts in Civil Engineering Curricula”, an Erasmus+ project that is co-funded by the European Commission and Turkish National Agency. The event took place at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki on 21-24th of June 2022. The title of Dr. Aktaş’s talk was “"Circular Economy with Examples for the Construction Industry”.
