Following the devastating earthquakes affecting 11 cities in southeastern Turkey in February, a fieldwork project entitled “Damage Assessment Study on the Building Retrofitted in 2009” was conducted by our faculty members by Assoc. Profs. Rıza Secer Orkun, Can Baran Aktaş, Cem Akgüner, and Research Assistant Mehmet Fırat Aydın. The project realized in Antakya, Hatay, between March 2nd and 4th, 2023, was supported by TÜBİTAK 1002-C Emergency Support Program for Reconnaissance Study Focusing on Natural Disasters Program.

Dr. Aktaş, Associate Professor from the Department of Civil Engineering, was an invited speaker at the Training Academy and Dissemination Event of “Integration of Sustainable Design and Circular Economy Concepts in Civil Engineering Curricula”, an Erasmus+ project that is co-funded by the European Commission and Turkish National Agency. The event took place at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki on 21-24th of June 2022. The title of Dr. Aktaş’s talk was “"Circular Economy with Examples for the Construction Industry”.
